Exploring the Universe Together
About GRASSA: A community of passionate stargazers, educators, and explorers since 1995.
Our Mission
Bringing the Universe Down to Earth
Our goal is to foster a deep-seated passion for astronomy through accessible education, regular observation nights, and enthusiastic community outreach. We believe the wonders of the cosmos belong to everyone.
Our Journey
From a small gathering in a backyard to a city-wide institution.
Founding
1995
GRASSA was founded by a group of five amateur astronomers who wanted to share their telescopes and knowledge with local schools.
First Observatory
2005
After a decade of fundraising, we opened our permanent observatory on Mount Locke, featuring a 16-inch reflector telescope available to all members.
Today

We are now over 500 members strong, hosting monthly star parties, astrophotography workshops, and guest lectures from leading scientists.
